CT Atrefact
Artefact -इसका मतलब वह signal होता है जोकि हमको image में दिखाई देते है परन्तु tissue या body part में उपस्थित नही होते है,
यह image एवं tissue में confusion पैदा करते हैं।
यह CT image में कोई distortion या error है जो studies या procedure किये जा रहे subject या exam से related नही होते है।

CT number के रूप में show कर सकते है streak artefact CT image के quality को affect करने वाले सबसे common distortion या error है।
"An artifact is a distortion or error in an image that is unrelated to the subject being studied"
Radiograph पर उपस्थित वो structure या appearance जो radiographic image का भाग नहीं होती है तथा किसी कृत्रिम प्रभाव से उत्पन्न होता है artifacts कहलाते है |
CLASSIFICATION OF ARTEFACTS
PHYSICS BASED ARTIFACTS:
Results from the physical processes involved in the acquisition of CT data.
PATIENT BASED ARTIFACTS:
Caused by patient movement / presence of metallic materials in or on the patient.
SCANNER BASED ARTIFACTS:
Results from imperfection in scanners function.
HELICAL & MULTISECTION ARTIFACTS:
Produced by the image reconstruction process.
TYPES OF ARTEFACTS IN CT SCAN
1. BEAM HARDNING ARTEFACTS:
x-ray beam के द्वारा बहुत सारी image निकलती है जैसे high energy photon or low energy photon जो high energy photon होते है वह patient के body से पास या out हो जाती है लेकिन जो low energy photon होते है वह body के द्वारा absorb कर लिए जाते है जो image में white spot कि तरह image के किनारे से दिखाई देते है वह beam hardring artifact कहलाते है। इसको कम करने के लिए filter का use किया जाता है।
2. STREAK OF DARK BAND-
this is very heterogeneous यह g section dark bond or streale कि तरह दिखाई देते हैं यह दो image के बिच में दिखाई देता है।

3. METALLIC ARTEFACT
यह artifact तब उत्पन्न होता है जब scanfield में कोई matle हो। यह white spot कि तरह दिखाई देते है,क्योंकि metle कि density high होती है इसमें x-ray absorb हो जाते है इसको दूर करने के लिए हमे metle object को scan field से दूर रखना चाहिए।
4. MOTION ARTEFACT
artefact uncontrol movement for scanning time patient physical movement, resperatory movement के कारण उत्पन्न होता है इसके कारण image blur or black हो जाती है इसे motion atrifact कहते है। इसे कम करने के लिए patient को clear instruction देते है कि movement कम करे या हम scan time को कम करे।
5. LINEAR ARTEFACT
linear artefact के होने का कारण limited no of view होता है detector कि संख्या कम होने के कारण जोकि image में stric कि तरह या line कि तरह अलग अलग density में दिखती है। इसको कम करने के लिए detector कि संख्या बढ़ानी चाहिये।
6. RING ARTEFACT
Ring artefacts एक CT घटना है जो सीटी स्कैनर में एक या एक से अधिक detector elements के गलत miscalibration or failure के कारण होती है जिससे यह गलत data को display करता है यह display में ring कि तरह दिखाई देता है। इसे कम करने लिए machine या detector के proper calibration करक ठीक किया जा सकता है।
7.ZEBRA ARTEFACTS
यह multiplaner एवं 3D reformated image में पट्टी धारी लकीर के रूप में दिखाई देता है।
