PRESSURE INJECTOR

                PRESSURE INJECTORS

 INTRODUCTION
it is an electromechanically device it is a used to inject the contrast medium into the vessels at a specific flow rate. This also called flow rate injector.

HISTORY: 1" automatic injector was introduced in 1950s

BASIC COMPONENTS -

CONTROL PANEL-
Used to set the parameters of injection sequences

• Equipment with a touch screen and digitally controlled.

SYRINGE-
• Removable types disposable types or pre sterilized type capacities 60- 200ml made up of polypropylene material.
Dual syringe design- it allows preloading of two syringes effective contrast utilization saline test inject for more precise control of contrast delivery Saline flush following the injection creates a tight bvisualization.

HEATING DEVICE-

It is an electronic device helps in maintaining contrast and saline temp. To reduce the viscosity. It is located on the syringe temp maintained at38c

HIGH PRESSURE MECHANISM

These are electromechanical types motor is connected to a jackscrew that drives the piston the heating is done by infrared rays

FILLING OF SYRINGE-
Controls, load, fill, reverse, and unload, forward.
Requires a sterile in manual injection an amount of air is injected into the vial and the same amount of contrast medium is drawn
Injector the seal and the top of the contrast medium is removed and the  medium is drawn up through a sterile extension tube

DELIVERY OF CONTRAST MEDIUM-

Poiseuille's law. Q=πPr4 /8nl

CLEAN AND MAINTENANCE-

Day to day cleaning is necessary make sure if contrast media fall on device it should be cleaned immediately.

• Regular checkups help in prolong life of device and less expenditure to service

 DISADVANTAGE-
✓Fraction of second required to deliver the required pressure.

✓Personnel to be present in the radiographic room to initiate the injection

✓It was impossible to initiate the injection when the heart was in diastole.

✓Too much pressure could result in vessel dissection.

•✓The catheter could break if the pressure was set too high.

✓The syringe was covered in metal and could not be visualized to see its air bubbles were present in the barrel of the syringe.
